First off I have to say I’ve been to many of the Soho houses all over the world and I’ve never written a review. Holloway House has to be the best service and best food I’ve ever encountered of any Soho House. We were first greeted by who must’ve been the general manager, Brittany. She was so lovely and genuine and her service was just over the top. Not only did she give us options of where we wanted to sit, but she offered to give us a tour of the house. We decided to just sit in the main room because it was a bit chilly to go on the roof, but we’d love to check it out next time. She checked on us the entire night and I couldn’t have been more thankful for that type of care and concern in today’s service industry. I think we can all agree it’s gone down after Covid. I’ve never experienced that type of service at not one Soho House. The staff was incredible too. Never an empty water cup, and we had multiple people check on us throughout the night. It started with Jeffrey who was so kind and so professional. Then we had a lovely waiter by the name of Alex or Olex (not sure how to spell the name) but he was also so lovely and kind. We ended the night with Pablo who was just adorable and so professional and well spoken. He seemed to know the menu by heart and gave us all the most delicious desert options. We cannot wait to return. I can’t believe I’ve never been. This was top-tier out of every house I’ve ever been to. A special thank you to Brittany for making us feel so welcomed. We will for sure be back!
This location is a home away from home for me when I travel from NY to LA - I always stay in the same room and have the best room service. The location is supreme. Unfortunately, Channing at the front desk is the most unaccommodating person I’ve ever met across all Soho Houses. I asked for something to be shipped (and to pay for it) upon check out (a very small jar) and with a proud attitude, she told me she would have to personally do it so she would not be doing that, and it’s “new policy” that they won’t do that for guests unless I arrive with a prepaid shipping label. That’s not possible for me to have at 7 am as I’m at the door and for $500/night the “hotel” is simply not as accommodating as other locations. Channing’s attitude really dampened what was otherwise a great stay. Please just be aware the service is not high level.
Some of the staff is lovely. Others are incredibly snobby and rude. I am paying a lot to be a member here. I was on an important business call on the roof before the restaurant opened, something a manager has told me multiple times I can do as long as it’s before the opening time. A waiter saw I was on a call and proceeded to BLAST music. Mind you no one else was on the roof other than me. It was humiliating, and when I asked them to turn it down, he rudely said no. SO disrespectful and I was completely embarrassed in front of my CEO, who also had a poor impression of the soho house after this. Ruined the entire call and couldn’t even hear myself talk.
