Beautiful resort. The service is amazing the majority of the time. We had a few times where the service was slow during the theme nights at different restaurants, but otherwise, our service was amazing. The food was delicious and the drinks were good. We got to see whales, seals, schools of fish, and stingrays while we were there this time. We had a 3 bedroom penthouse and enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunsets. The staff is extremely kind. Love the Cinco de Mayo celebration and the shopping market they hosted. This is a definite place to stay when in Cabo!

We stayed at Solmar Resort in Cabo San Lucas from June 30 to July 3 and had a great experience overall. The location is quiet and scenic, with ocean views and easy access to town. The staff was friendly, our room was clean and comfortable, even though the decor is a bit outdated. The pool area was a great spot to unwind. For the price, the room offered excellent value, especially given the location and amenities. While you can’t swim at the beach due to strong currents, the resort made up for it with a peaceful atmosphere and solid service. We'd happily stay here again for a relaxing Cabo getaway.

Let me preface this by saying: most of the 5 stars reviews you see online are actually about Grand Solmar, the 5 star hotel next door — not Solmar Resort, which is a completely different property and a 4 star hotel. The difference is night and day. Staff With the exception of two employees working at the pool during the day, the staff were absolutely incompetent and rude. The pool bar staff spent most of their time chatting with each other, and only when you placed an order (for example, a glass of champagne) would they slowly start to prepare it — often taking up to 30 minutes and requiring you to remind them multiple times. The front desk staff were also unfriendly and seemed to have little knowledge of their own work. Food The food was just “okay” — you won’t go hungry, but don’t expect anything particularly tasty or memorable. Oh, and you can always count on a random vegetable in your pasta. Zucchini? Sure. Bell pepper? Why not. A lonely broccoli floret wondering how it got there? Absolutely. It’s like a little surprise game at every meal. Misleading website information The photos on the official website are taken from the nearby 5 star hotel located on the same grounds, which is a completely different standard. Many of the listed amenities are not where you’d expect them to be. For example, the gym is actually in another building about 20 minutes away by shuttle, which stops running in the evening. There is no access to the gym or evening activities of the 5 star hotel — and the staff make this very clear in a rather rude manner. Entertainment & atmosphere All evening entertainment happens at the 5 star hotel next door. The 4 star section has no evening program at all. Even while walking on the beach, staff repeatedly and aggressively asked which hotel and room you were from. Overall For the price, it might not be the worst option, but don’t expect much. The service will likely spoil the overall experience — apart from two employees, the staff were rude and unprofessional.
