Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach

Beautiful hotel, great location with top level staff. Thank you Rosa at the front desk who provided excellent service and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Ruben the beach guy was incredibly helpful and made my beach experience enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a wonderful beach experience service.

Our room had a dirty towel rolled up and shoved behind the ‘clean’ stack of towels under the sink. Which makes me question the overall cleanliness of the hotel. We aren’t from FL so the housekeepings attitude came off as rude and disrespectful. The view was great- location was good. The front desk employees were always friendly along with all the other employees we came into contact with (except housekeeping)

My wife and I were looking forward to celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary with a relaxing stay at your hotel from June 29 to July 3. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a disturbing and threatening incident involving two other guests, which significantly affected our sense of safety and overall enjoyment. On July 1st, while using the hotel’s beach chairs (assigned by your beach attendant), we were approached by an intoxicated couple who asked if we had seen their shoes. After politely responding that we had not, we were subjected to verbal abuse and had our chairs, with all our belongings on them, flipped over by the pair. This escalated into physical threats, and it was only thanks to your beach attendant — who did an admirable job intervening and restraining them — that the situation didn’t get worse. He also informed the hotel of the incident and offered us a sincere apology for what happened. Unfortunately, when we later approached the front desk and spoke with Andrea, we were told there was nothing the hotel could do — not even as a gesture of concern or support. When we said we no longer felt safe and offered to leave early if the remaining nights were not charged, we were again told the hotel would not accommodate that. We ended up spending most of the remainder of our anniversary trip in our room, afraid of another confrontation. It’s disheartening that our special occasion was overshadowed by such distress, and more disappointing that the hotel chose not to prioritize guest safety or even offer any meaningful resolution. We expected better from a brand like Sonesta. This experience has left us not only hurt but also determined never to return to or recommend Sonesta properties. We hope you take this feedback seriously and take steps to ensure no other guests have to go through what we did.
