Sonesta Hotel Houston IAH Airport

We missed our flight to NZ because of a delayed national flight and were put up at this Hotel overnight. The room was clean and very comfortable. We paid for a late checkout and had a good lunch at the restaurant on Level 1. The airport shuttle service they provide is also really good.

This hotel was close to the airport but I would have chosen another hotel. Upon entry I noticed the interior walls needed painting and some work. The phone in the room was inoperable. I walked down stairs to notify them twice that the phone was not working, but instead of replacing it, they removed it from the room. I could not call to the front desk to ask for extra towels or for hotel information. The hotel pool gate was not opening with the key issued. There was someone cleaning the lobby everyday. Bartender Katrina was amazing. She had a good personality ( thanks for the lemon drop). Security guard Robert was very helpful with providing various locations in Houston. 1st room we were supposed to have was already occupied by other guests. I get it, things happen and get mixed up. After an hour, or so, we got our room. Only to unload luggage and find bed bugs and other ticks or pests all through headboards on both double beds. After bringing it to the employees attention, we were told we would be switching to a different room and would be reimbursed for the inconvenience, at least for one of the 2 nights we had booked. Switched rooms, and were satisfied as to not have critters as roommates. The next day, received an email saying the hotel sprays for pests, so there would not be any refund issued for their room being infested. Go figure.. Pool could definitely use some attention and cleaning as there were roaches all over the place, but it was an outdoor pool, so it’s not all on them. Would’ve been great if we were told the hot tub was not operating correctly, which was a selling point when we booked. Was literally the same temp as the pool. Decent size room, and beautiful lobby, but we will definitely not stay there again any time soon. And it would be great if their employees didn’t offer to reimburse us for the infestation only to be told otherwise by a “higher up”
