Sonne

A lovely hotel set up quite a steep slope, but you can get a taxi from the station. Very quiet rooms even with a waterfall right outside the door of our room. Lovely pool and spa. Breakfast is a bit sparse, consisting of continental and some scrambled eggs, bacon and beans with different breads. Not as much choice as other hotels we've stayed in. The room our group sat in for breakfast was very claustrophobic, but other guests could sit where they liked. The bedroom was spacious, the pillows were very flat, but it's personal choice.

As a large group, we spent a week in February at this hotel. It's a great location for access to town and provides morning shuttle service to the lifts. The rooms are good-sized, the hotel bar staff is friendly, and breakfast and dinners were tasty and enjoyable.

After eight visits, Hotel Sonne is such an important part of our annual ski holiday in Zermatt, and for good reason. From the moment we arrive, everything is effortless—the pickup from the train station, the seamless check-in, and the thoughtful touches that make all the difference. The partnership with the ski rental shop means our gear is waiting for us in the hotel ski room, and private transportation to the lifts means we skip the hassle of crowded buses. The experience continues well beyond skiing. The spa is a perfect retreat after a day on the slopes, and the dining is exceptional. Breakfast is plentiful, dinners are extraordinary, and the service is always personal. Small things, like having water ready at our table because they remember our preferences, or ensuring our selected wines are waiting for us at après-ski and again at dinner, show the level of care that sets Hotel Sonne apart. The Forster family and their incredible team make this hotel feel like a true home away from home. Zermatt is already an amazing destination, but Hotel Sonne makes it truly out of this world. We’ll be back—again and again.
