haven by the Baltic sea, Where Sopot’s breeze hums soft in harmony, I came—a humble guest of banners bold— To brave the storm where marketing is told. No sword I bore, but slides and charts instead, The tempest raged: “Keynote!” the scholars said. Yet thou, fair inn, didst catch me in embrace, A lighthouse standing firm in time and place. At luncheon’s call—O banquet most divine! Where salmon danced in herb and briny brine, And soup, like golden amber in a bowl, Did warm not just my body, but my soul. Thy room—a sonnet built of linen fair, With curtains soft as whispers in the air. Thy staff, like pages in a monarch’s court, Did serve with grace in gesture and in sort. Though into storm of speeches I did steer, Thy walls gave rest, thy meals brought cheer. And should I pass this coast once more anon, To Miarot I’ll return ere break of dawn. Let all who voyage know of this delight— Where minds are fed and hearts made light. Even Shakespeare’s ghost, were he to stay, Would trade the Globe for thee one day.
This Marriott has the usual comfortable beds, nice rooms etc. But the service was a little inconsistent . At check-in the staff gave off very strong "I don't want to be here" vibes. I don't expect a red carpet when I check-in, but a "hello, how are you" would be nice! At breakfast I ordered something that never came, asked them to see what happened, they checked and said it would come eventually - but never did. So just to be aware, while the high reviews for the building itself and the beach location are well deserved, you might still have to deal with somewhat inconsistent levels of service, including housekeeping - which is unusual for a Marriott. They were however very helpful in other ways, such as at checkout. Overall I would recommend it.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Sopot Marriott, however it wasn't without issues. We previously stayed at the Sheraton and were comparing it to that Hotel. I would recommend the Marriott over the Sheraton unless, you really want to be in the center of Sopot. Surprisingly, at check in the front desk staff made no mention of our Bonvoy Status (which by the way is hard to earn) or provide details about any benefits we had available to us. I had to inquire about the benefits via the chat within the Marriott App. We found the room to be very clean and pleasant. It was quiet and the AC worked well keeping it cool. However, biggest issue with the room was that it was lacking luggage racks. It had a small built in rack in the closet, however that was only good for carry on bag. We called the front desk and they said that the entire hotel did not have any luggage racks. This is just unacceptable for a major hotel chain like Marriott. We had to keep our bags on the floor the entire stay and open them there to pull clothes, etc. This was a big issue for us and I can't imagine, how elderly/handicap visitors would deal with this. The front desk failed to provide any solution for this issue even though we asked for one. The food at the restaurant is good but again, the staff is a bit cold, especially at breakfast (a little smile goes a long way). The pools and jacuzzi are very nice, and enjoyable on rainy/cold days. Overall I would agree with the rating of this hotel being 4*. ***Management has reached out to us after our stay and communication with Marriott Corp about the luggage racks and they are going to obtain some for the hotel to prevent this issue from occurring to other patrons in the future. I appreciate their steps to fix this issue.***
