As long as you are prepared for a self check-in/customer service free hotel, I would recommend this place. The room was beautiful, the location can't be beat, and the view was fantastic. We were a little thrown off by the fact that there was no one there to check us in and that wasn't made clear when we booked it. Also, all of the signage, from the buttons on the phone to the info sheet in the hotel room was exclusively in German. That may have changed by now, however, because I called the hotel and suggested that they should put them in English and/or French since Switzerland is a multilingual country and Zurich is an international city. The customer service folks I did speak to were top-notch, responsive, and dealt with my concerns immediately.
Stay here for 3 night, self check in system but everyday when we go out and came back to the room the key is not working, we need to try to call to get the key activated again, While we were there, they were doing renovations. The maintenance guy knocked on our window to ask for help. The work was loud and disturbing in the morning. The room was spacious. The bathroom had no door, just a thin curtain blocking it. And the guy was doing maintenance on the 3rd floor on our window, no privacy at all. We booked a room with a good view, but the hotel work was blocking it. Very disappointed!.
This is not a hotel. It is basically a badly managed airbnb. The Sorrel chain should be ashamed of themselves. And I don't know how they have the audacity to present this a 4 star hotel. First, there are no staff -apart from cleaners who are there only between 12-15. -this do not disclose this anywhere, and intentionally hide it from you. Instead they slyly state "self check in" or "we will not be there to check you in when you arrive). -They send you a "welcome" email, written only in German, and with mostly broken links for more information. Confusing Checkin -aggravating and poorly conceived -No clear information, and the (unaffiliated) restaurant staff are clearly tired of being asked questions by frustrated guests. -the keyboard for checkin is dirty, falling apart, and seems to be an English keyboard but calibrated for German. Therefore the Z and Y keys are swapped. . -I was given my room key at 310 but the cleaners were not finished. No breakfast. -There is no breakfast. They slyly make reference to “ordering” breakfast from outside the hotel but provide no detail on how, or by what deadline, at what cost nor what is available. Misc -There is a minibar in the room, but no detail on the cost on the food items in the room (I presume they are not free). Also no bottle opener in the room. -confusing light controls, which after 30 minutes we gave up trying to understand -when you turn of the "master light switch" it also turns off all electrical outlets. Don't expect to wake up with a charged laptop or power bar for your days travels. -no iron or ironing board in the room. -they double charged me for the City tax. I complained via email but they responded with an email shrug and said you are two people. I was the only person in my room.
