I stayed at Southern Airline Pearl Hotel for one night during a transit, and I was quite pleased with my stay overall. The hotel is conveniently located very close to the airport, which made my transfer smooth and stress-free. The free airport shuttle service was punctual and reliable, although it runs about once every hour, so it's a good idea to check the schedule in advance. The room itself was quite spacious and spotless, with all the essential amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel’s lobby is large and well maintained, and the friendly and helpful front desk made check-in and check-out a breeze. I especially liked that late check-out was available until 2pm, allowing me to rest and prepare for my flight without feeling rushed. I also appreciate having convenient facilities nearby — a currency exchange service, halal food restaurant, 7/11, and McDonald’s attached to the hotel, which made my stay more comfortable. My only drawbacks were that the AC wasn't working in the room, making it quite warm overnight, and the hotel doesn't accept international cards, which was a bit inconvenient. Nonetheless, I’d certainly consider staying here again when transiting through this city.
Great Transit Hotel – Comfortable, Convenient & Worth It! I stayed at the Southern Airlines Pearl Hotel during a long layover in Guangzhou and was really impressed. If your layover is more than 8 hours and you're traveling as a couple or with family, you can get this hotel for free through the Southern China Airlines website (check the Free Transit Accommodation option). Solo travelers can still stay, but there’s a $20 USD fee if you want a private room—which is totally worth it. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. It even came with a free buffet breakfast, which was a nice bonus. The hotel is about 10–15 minutes from the airport and they offer a free shuttle service both ways. Once you land at CAN airport, just head straight from arrivals to the Southern Airlines hotel counter at the far end—it’s easy to find. Highly recommended if you want a restful layover in a proper hotel instead of waiting at the airport. Great service and value for travelers transiting through Guangzhou!
Appalling. I was forced to stay here after Southern China Airlines canceled, rebooked and delayed my flight so much that I missed the last leg and had to spend a night in Guangzhou. The room itself was nice, but there was no wifi (only Chinese wifi = no google or normal apps). No ATM, no card payments - only Chinese app payments (which I couldn't download). The TV has 40 channels with only 1 being in English, spouting China & Russia nonsense 24/7, sandwiched in between news from Africa and sporting events. The room order is an absolute mess, there are flies in the lobby, the free dinner buffet was a joke -- they parade you in front of the full buffet and direct you to a small room with 4 food options: lukewarm duck scraps, cold kimchi pork, one piece of boiled vegetable and tofu. Let's not forget the unsalted rice and random soup - not the smartest thing to eat in China. You could wash it all down with the great selection of tap water or black tea. It was my worst dinner at a hotel ever. The staff were useless. They ignored you standing in front of the counter and looked at their phones until you raised your voice, and once they heard you they'd be as unhelpful as humanly possible, shrug and go on scrolling. For example, when we explained our problem with the wifi, they said "works for me". The shuttle bus service is a mess, there is no order. It doesn't matter who is waiting longer and who just got here - people will push and shove to get it, and smoke on your face too. The driver yells at everyone in Chinese. The location is absolutely disgusting, every shop in the area is filled with flies and stinks of death. I pity anyone who chooses to pay for this garbage.
