Southern Sun O.R Tambo

We stayed last night for 1 night while transiting from SA to ZIM and the room was absolutely perfect! After 24hrs travel starting from Western Australia we arrived as a family of 4 absolutely exhausted and the staff at Southern Sun were brilliant! Quick check in, clean spacious room (411) 2 beds which were super comfy and then an absolutely fantastic breakfast spread in the morning. The airport transfer service was also gratefully received - if you are stopping at the airport for the night i would 100% recommend this gem of a hotel. Thanks to all the wonderful staff!

This hotel is fantastic if your landing in Or Tambo late at night and have an early morning domestic or international flight. There is a complimentary airport shuttle that runs every 15 minutes between the hotel and the bus terminal at the airport 24 hours a day. I landed at 22:00 and found the hotel shuttle easily and it only took 4 minutes to get to the hotel. The staff were very helpful with checking in. The dinner at the hotel was amazing. The rooms were very large and the bed was very comfortable and there is even a pool and a gym. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. My flight in the morning was at 08:00am so I woke up at 6:00 to have a great breakfast and then took the shuttle to the airport for my 8:00am flight to Durban.

The hotel is directly across OR Tambo airport. The shuttle service runs 24 hours a day which makes it convenient for those who have flights at odd times. The rooms are big and comfortable. There is also a bar fridge provided. Great shower. Aircon with a heat setting which made it ideal for the cold winter night. They do not provide bottled water for guests yet one night is over R2000! The bathroom was spotless but the room was not cleaned properly. The buffet lunch was limited but food was delicious. They do packed breakfasts as well. Service from most of the staff was good. There were just a few with a dont care attitude...but it is because of staff like that, that we won't return. I booked this hotel only because of the shuttle service being available 24-7. If your flight does not leave too early, then best book somewhere else where the rooms are properly cleaned and service is pleasing from all staff.
