Sporthotel Xander

Just returned from a week in Austria, staying at this hotel. The food was delicious - always a great choice on offer. The staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were just perfect and well serviced. I wouldn't hesitate to return. Well done to all concerned.

This hotel is not worth 4 stars To begin, here are the positive points: The rooms are spacious and the 3 menus to choose from for the evening were well appreciated. The swimming pool, sauna and games room are very good. Some rooms have been renovated but unfortunately ours still had an old stained carpet. What I really didn't like is the double tax for the dog. That we have to pay €10 a day for the dog, it still passes. On the other hand, we were banned from the beautiful dining room to settle in the old part of the restaurant which, by the way, would have merited a good coat of paint, that was too much! The service is very poorly organized and the staff is quite passive. Polite phrases such as "hello", "enjoy your meal" or "good evening" seem to be absent from their vocabulary. When I checked out, I had the impression that I was leaving from a youth hostel rather than a 4-star hotel. When I returned my badges, the person at the reception desk simply waved at me with his "thumb up" and took care of the next customer. It's not a language problem because I also speak German. Anyway, this is the first time I have ever left a hotel without being said goodbye and see you soon.

We stayed in the Gasthaus. The showers were a bit too small. Small plus a curtain makes for an annoying shower experience. ("Get off me, curtain!") The staff is nice and attentive. The girl at reception was sweet. The massive free parking is very convenient. The pool was a little colder than I expected, but a few minutes in the sauna fixed that. The breakfast was quite nice, but the dinner was a bit underwhelming. Still, would probably stay here again.
