We had the most lovely time at St Michael’s on our Cornwall mini-moon after our wedding. Our room had a terrace so we could take our dog out which was really handy - we went to the spa one afternoon which was probably the highlight - there were 4 different saunas including the only Cornish sea salt sauna and one overlooking the sea. We had a fabulous meal one evening - lobster Thermidor which was amazing. All that and just a couple of minutes from the beach. Would 100% recommend to dog owners too as you can take your dog in the lounge restaurant and in the wonderful grounds of the hotel. Final mention for the gym which was fully kitted out and even had and outdoor section to train in
Don't book a 1 person room if you don't want to end up in the basement with barely any windows and no natural light! But the rest of the hotel was decent. Although the spa that is open to hotel guest for free is really disappointing. Hotel guest have to pay 40£ for 2 hours in the more luxurious spa area where outside guests are also allowed. We didn't know that, even as a hotel guest, you have to book a spa spot and we ended up walking to the spa and exited to relax just to be sent away because it was "full" already. Apart from that the hotel is good and both of the restaurants are really good!
There are some new renovated rooms, they are pretty nice but the rooms in the main building are old. The fitness center is amazing. There are two SPA areas. One is for free but horrible. The other one cost 40€ per person for 2 hours.
