Stadthotel Schärding

My review will be coming from the viewpoint of an American. I went to Schärding for business with my husband and two little kids. I loved the StadtHotel. I don’t know much German, but the staff was knowledgeable in English that I could communicate with them. When we first arrived the owner gave us a card to get discounts off the local attractions. We went to Baumkronenweg, which we loved! She also gave my kids a decent sized chocolate which they loved. The breakfast is amazing! I don’t eat any sugar or wheat, and I had many amazing, fresh, healthy, delicious options to chose from. The rooms are very quiet, and I could hear the birds in the square every morning and evening, along with the church bells The cleaning staff was very friendly, efficient, and hard working. So is the waitstaff. The atmosphere is cozy with art, plants, very clean, lots of fresh air, lots of windows and natural light. The parking is very limited, but there is a garage within easy walking distance, and they will valet your car late at night or the early morning if you park at the hotel. It will be much easier to walk then to drive in Schärding, and everything is close enough to do so. When we come back we will definitely be staying here again.

Fantastic service from reception. The girl has been extremely kind and helpful. The rooms are big and spacious. Breakfast is fantastic.

To start with, we arrived at 9 and got to know that the reception closes at 8, had to wait outside freezing and then a sweet girl came to drop us the keys. The heater was not working and the blanket was too short. The pillows were super uncomfortable and had no extra pillows. There was an old lady and she was the only staff in the hotel and we were the only guests. She had that rude tone and her gestures were very uncomfortable. One star for the room cleanliness.
