Stainsborough Hall Holiday Cottages

A lovely girls weekend at Henmore Cottage - thank you so much to both Joanne & Tim! The cottage was immaculately clean and provided all the settling in necessities. The garden was private which then led into a shared garden should you be staying in a number of cottages. The surrounding area was beautiful, lots of lovely country walks with equally lovely places to eat and drink. Would most certainly recommend for anyone looking to stay!

On the plus side there were some lovely touches with three cottage being decorated for Halloween. And the site is ideally situated for this party of the Peak District. However, it should be made clear that the beds are 2ft6 beds, not proper singles. We booked a cottage with two king beds, but got two twins instead. The cottages are tiny and the kitchens not at all well equipped. The detachable shower head didn't work and the water pressure was poor with a single boiler servicing all cottages. The games room is simply a shed with a table tennis table in which is unheated and unlit so can't be used after dark. The cottages are incredibly overpriced. We've stayed in loads of self catering properties across the UK, and stayed in much nicer places at the same time of the year for half the price in much more popular and expensive parts of the country. We won't be staying again and wouldn't recommend to others.

Extremely disappointed! We returned to stay at Stainsborough hall cottage's due to visiting a few years ago & enjoying the welcome pack, smart cottages with everything needed to enjoy a short break with friends. However our experience this time could not be any further from the opposite of our first stay. On arrival there was no welcome extras which we can appreciate costs may have resulted in these no longer being provided but the cottages themselves also had clearly not been very well looked after. We had no phone signal and can appreciate again the cottages are in a rural location but as we knew there would be WiFi we accepted this. Unfortunately though there was absolutely no WiFi which as business owners who even if we are away we need to be able to check in as well as also be able to plan our days whilst here was not acceptable. Several attempts were made to contact the owners to make them aware of this who replied once to say it would be looked into & then after more attempts to see if this would be rectified or offered another cottage which has WiFi no reply was given. Leaving us having to leave the cottage to drive to locations where we could connect to WiFi to enable us to carry out what we should have been able to whilst enjoying our stay in the cottage. On our second day we also all experienced cold showers & with no one else staying we couldn’t understand how there was no water, again we ensured we made the owners aware & yet again no response, leaving us having to experience the rest our stay with no hot water. There were even more issues I could state but unfortunately as I am now more exhausted from my stay away than feeling rested I will just be stating the main issues which as far as I am concerned are key amenities which should in these times always be available when staying in the UK unless it is stated when booking them not being available.
