A very good hotel in Munich, staff was super nicer breakfast offers plenty of options of good quality. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Neighborhood is quiet but you’re not far from the English Garden Park which is great to go for a run
This hotel was in an area that felt very safe for non-German-speakers. We found the staff to be very cordial and helpful. Every person working there spoke English very well, mitigating our language deficiencies. The room we had was spacious and comfortable. The lighting was a little lacking, but we had plenty natural light from 0430-2130. The restaurant served a comprehensive buffet for breakfast each day, included in our room rate. It had numerous options for continental, American, and European preferences. Sadly, that area was not available for dinner; meals had to be taken in the lounge. It was very crowded in the lounge on one of our two nights, but the servers opened up an area in the lounge that they prefer not to use so they could seat our party of six together. It worked out great for us because it was quieter on that side of the lounge and we could hear each other better than in the heart of the lounge. American and German food we selected was all good. Other options within walking distance of the hotel were limited, and in rainy weather the hotel was our preference. The location, unfortunately, was much too far away from the center to take full advantage of the more interesting parts of the city; a compromise for sure. Our rooms were not without problems. One had no TV service and one couple had to be relocated. Another had no climate control; nether could they open their ground-floor windows. Rather than providing fresh towels, the housekeeper took our damp towels from the hooks, folded them, and placed them back on the shelving as if they were fresh. We didn't discover that until right before our crack-of-dawn departure for the airport, so it wasn't resolved. The staff did accommodate us with a bagged breakfast because of our check-out before the restaurant opened. Our group guide coordinated that ahead of time. It was certainly better than nothing, but the sandwiches were not as good as any of the pastry options we had seen at previous breakfasts. They also included fresh fruit and a bottle of orange juice. Adequate, but disappointing. Transportation to the airport, arranged by the hotel for us, worked exceptionally well.
In May 2025, I stayed at the Steigenberger Hotel München for five nights. From the moment I arrived, the experience was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff were outright rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. When I informed them that I had paid in advance for breakfast as part of my booking, they immediately argued with me. Despite clearly showing proof—both on my paperwork and on my phone reservation—they flatly denied it and refused to take any responsibility. Instead of making any effort to resolve the issue, they continued to argue and treated me as if I was trying to deceive them. Their behavior was unacceptable—aggressive, condescending, and completely lacking in basic customer service standards. In my experience, the staff displayed an attitude of superiority—completely unwilling to listen, help, or admit fault. This interaction left a lasting negative impression. I found the overall hospitality and demeanor to be inconsiderate and unwelcoming. I’ve stayed in many hotels across Europe, and this was by far one of the worst service experiences I’ve encountered. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel.
