Sterling Kodai Lake

We stayed in this stylish and spacious sterling residency yesterday, with 6 people (4 adults and 2 children). We had a terrific and enjoyable experience. The complementing works well. All of my workers, including my battery vehicle drivers and security personnel, are quite cooperative. The rooms are clean and orderly. This lodge truly felt like a home away from home.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sterling Lake Resort in Kodaikanal, and it was truly a wonderful experience. Nestled amidst lush greenery and overlooking the picturesque lake, the resort offers a perfect blend of comfort, nature, and hospitality. The location is unbeatable — just close enough from the hustle of the town, yet close enough for convenient access to the lake. Waking up to misty mornings and the tranquil view of the lake was a highlight of our trip. The rooms were spacious, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed, offering all the decent amenities you’d expect while still retaining a rustic charm. The housekeeping and room service teams were prompt and courteous. What really stood out was the staff’s hospitality. From check-in to check-out, the team made us feel welcome and went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable. Special thanks to the spa lady Elizabeth who helped me with upper body/back massage, the restaurant staff for accommodating our food preferences and serving delicious local and continental dishes every day.

We stayed at Sterling Kodai Lake with family, expecting a comfortable and premium experience. What we got instead was a series of unacceptable failures that reflect complete mismanagement and a lack of basic hospitality. We moved from Classic Rooms to a Lake Privilege Suite and were assured by the receptionist, porters, and even the security staff that our luggage would be safely moved indoors once the suite was ready. Trusting their repeated assurances, we left the property at 11:30 AM. When we returned around 6:30 PM, we were horrified to see our entire luggage still lying outside the reception, unattended, exposed to dust, weather, and anyone passing by. It was a pathetic sight, more fitting for a bus stop than a so-called “resort.” To make matters worse, when I ordered coffee for ₹210, it was served in a paper cup — a completely unacceptable presentation for that price and setting. Later, dinner was served on disposable paper plates. This is not just disappointing; it’s insulting to guests who are paying for a premium experience. At this point, it felt like we were staying in a poorly run hostel, not a reputed resort brand. What was most frustrating wasn’t just the poor service, but the apathy and lack of accountability across the staff. No one took ownership, and there was a clear absence of professionalism and training. Sterling Kodai Lake has a long way to go if it wants to live up to even minimum expectations. As it stands, this property is a disgrace to the Sterling name. We checked in expecting hospitality — we left with disappointment and disbelief.
