Although I had to cancel my booking shortly after arriving, the experience with the staff was outstanding. The reception team and general manager went out of their way to assist, and their friendly, supportive approach truly stood out. I can't overstate how helpful and kind they were throughout.

Blood on sheets, construction throughout property which we were not informed about. Construction sounds started at 8am. Tried to speak to the receptionist who claimed the construction sounds were from the floor above us and she couldn’t hear any. The pictures prove otherwise. My suggestion close the hotel, complete the refurbishment and work on customer etiquette. Unsafe and trip hazards throughout. Shocking experience.

Good location, basic rooms but terrible customer service from Emily. We booked a 2 night stay here and were looking forward to a relaxing break in the Lake District which we had been planning for months. We arrive only to find the hotel is having construction work done but this was not mentioned on the website at all. We were woken by loud hammering and drilling from 8am in the morning which completely disrupted what was supposed to be a recuperating break. There was cling film stuck down to the carpet on the stairs and I slipped walking down - selling rooms whilst the hotel is undergoing these works is a safety hazard. When we got into our room there was a blood stain on the mattress sheet. We went to reception but there was no one there and then tried calling the hotel phone, hoping someone would come to the reception desk to answer the call but no one came so I had no choice but to put a towel over the blood stain and sleep on it. Upon checkout we left 10 mins later than the allowed check out time and Emily at the front desk charged us an additional £25 for this. When we complained to Emily about the disruptive noise we experienced, she said that the noise was not by our room and it wasn’t possible for us to be affected. Her customer service was the worst we have ever experienced and she ruined our trip by being so rude when a bit of kindness given the circumstances could have gone a long way.
