Top location, right at the boulevard of Egmond aan Zee. The hotel claims to be 4 stars. The whole experience is more like 3 star hotel. Our room was large, but dark. Due to the colours used (dark brown etc), the entire hotel feels dark. In the room, very cheap plastic cups, thin & small towels, no conditioner nor body lotion. The shower door didn't close well, so when showering the whole bathroom was flooding. Matrass too soft and pillows too high. Our room had a small terrace and a 'beautiful' view of a roof right next to it. Breakfast was middle of the road. People in restaurant and at reception were nice. The simple menu in the restaurant was actually of good quality with tender chicken sateh and home-made sambal and atjar. So all and all not a bad place but a 3 star experience for a 4 star price (225€ per night).
We visited friends staying at the hotel. Room number was 408. Quite a large room with balcony, but no sea view. Very clean and modern. Evening meal in the eeaze restaurant was excellent. Prices are reasonable. Most of the staff speak english and german and are very friendly. Super atmosphere, can highly recommend for an evening out.
We booked an ocean view family room way ahead of time for 2 adults and 3 kids. Payment was made upon booking. Upon our arrival we were given a roomkey and when we entered the room there was one bed only for 2! I was then told there is no family room available. They literally messed up our booking. They said it’s not their fault, it was the system!!! After getting very upset somehow they were able to find a room for us. This was the most horrible experience I hav ever had at a hotel. I saw myself driving back home for 4 hours. I almost had a nervous breakdown. After this scary experience which threw us off by 3 hours waiting for a room we managed to grab a dinner and the next morning we headed for breakfast. The selection was very poor and I have never seen canned fruits served in an “upscale” modern hotel. I wish they would listen to the reviews. Many of us have traveled the world and have seen amazing breakfast buffets. It doesn’t take much to upgrade the breakfast experience. Get some better cold cuts, get some good bread, offer GF, skip the canned goods and cut up some fresh fruit. The guests will thank you! About the rooms: the rooms were clean, bathrooms nice, beds were fine. The carpets definitely needed a professional cleaning treatment or full replacing. There was odor.
