Strandhotel Weissenhäuser Strand

Technically, we didn’t stay at the Strandhotel. I’m writing this as a heads-up to anyone unfamiliar with the area who might get tripped up by the confusing websites, like I did. I thought we had booked a “family apartment” connected to the Strandhotel, but in reality - via that booking site - we ended up with a rental apartment run by the Weissenhäuser Strand Freizeitpark. Think: Great Wolf Lodge meets the Ostsee. That’s fine if that’s what you’re after - but be warned. The resort was packed with school groups, mostly teenagers. The apartment itself was extremely basic: one roll of toilet paper, one tiny bar of soap, and no room cleaning or towel change for two weeks. Worst of all, for anyone trying to work remotely, there’s NO internet in the apts despite what’s advertised, and the Wi-Fi in shared spaces is patchy at best.

Have been here for 3 nights - family 2 adults and 1 child. Feels like it was the great hotel, but 10 years ago. Now there is a renovation in some of rooms in hotel. Good quality of beds, pillows, blankets. Great lounge zone with cozy fireplace, not bad playroom. But it is not “4stars” bathroom condition, dirty walls, ceiling. The Restaurant is not good at all. The taste of food, service is fine, but the food-quality is really bad. Flies sit on the food. The evening food from the dinner buffet is suggested to eat for the breakfast. We were poisoned in the main restaurant. Unfortunately. Be careful! Location is really good - nice beach.

I am staying currently at Weissenhauser strand hotel. We booked dinner at restaurant and took two buffets and ordered ala carte for one kid. I have two small children and one 3 years old and another 4 years old. Since we paid for 2 buffets and one ala carte, I took some pancakes and fruits for kids since my kids almost did not eat anything from buffet. But, later we were told by a waitress that we were not allowed to take any food to our hotel room inspite of the fact that our children were small. I guess they are ok to throw away the food which I placed in my plate rather than giving to a child who is staying in their hotel. It was quiet unpleasant and disappointing for a four star hotel treating this way.
