Stryn Hotel

I'll start by saying that the staff was very accommodating and they tried to help us with the problems we had, and succeeded to a degree. We only had the breakfast buffet here, and like everywhere else in Norway, it was filling, varied, and quality food. But like everywhere else, there are times when it's a mob scene, so come very early, or right at the end (9:30am). Now the bad stuff. The bathroom tiles were moldy and while they tried to clean them, the problem didn't go away completely. DO NOT TURN ON THE HOT WATER ALL THE WAY TO BURN-YOUR-SKIN-OFF! I did! The view from the room we had was pretty nice, with mountains in the background, but the hotel is almost in the center of the town, so don't expect much from the streets, roads, stores, gas/charge station (conveniently across the street), and grocery store vistas right outside the windows. And lastly, the noise at night! This has nothing to do with the hotel and its management, but the young crowd with loud music driving up and down the street, just outside your windows on the weekends is quite annoying. I'd probably look for a different place to stay next time I'm in town or the area, but it will do for one night stay if necessary. Otherwise, the location is quite central to many gorgeous and cool things to see. Some are literally cool - the Briksdal glacier, for example, is only 40 minutes away by car. The Loen Skylift (in Loen, about 15 minutes by car) was a breathtaking experience whether you're ascending almost 1 kilometer up into the mountains in less than 10 minutes, or stepping out onto their terrace with only a glass fence around it, and seeing multiple fjords from above, or eating and drinking at the beautiful restaurant with very scenic views.

The hotel is in a great location. However, the rooms are old and need updating. There is no elevator, making it hard to carry luggage up the stairs. The room had a bad smell, and the carpet felt dirty. On the bright side, the buffet food was quite good, and I enjoyed that.

Great location. Rooms need to be updated. No aircon, meaning you have to open your window if you need some a/c. No complementary things, like water or coffee in the room. No elevator. Even it is just 2 floors, if you have big heavy luggages then you will struggle. The restaurant closes at 9pm. Otherwise, the location is surrounded by beautiful scenic view. Gas station is across the hotel. And breakfast is decent with a view!
