Sunshine Bay Zanzibar Adults Only

We were at the sunshine bay hotel during 3 Days The hotel was great and the staff very professional The special breakfast in the pool was amazing. Thanks to the waiters ally, Fatou and Ibrahim for their kindness. They were always availables Perfect stay ! I hope to come back

Service was impeccable at this beautiful beach resort. We arrived so late due to flight issues that we didnt show up untill about 2AM. The staff didnt bother checking is in, they knew our flight and brought us straight to our room, knowing we would be exhausted. This is not a common practice for hotels in my experience, much appreciated. Additionally when we landed our pre-arranged driver was waiting for us and we left the airport with no issues: I've stayed at a few locally owned hotels in Africa (vs Hiltons/Sheratons/Marriots etc.) And this was the first time we didnt have to go around calling for our pre-arranged shuttle to find out where they were and if they were coming. The pools were lovely and so was the beach view. The food was just pretty-good, with a limited menu. The biggest draw back was that because the beach is public people come up and solicit you once you leave the private lounging area. This was a big draw back especially for my wife who loves to walk the beach and collect shells and sea glass. But when we were down on the lounging area we felt completely secure leaving our bag at our chair, as there was security standing by and no locals would bother anyone or anything in that section. Additionally the room's bathroom and minifridge were pretty noisy at night and that was rather annoying. Ultimately, its a beautiful hotel, the people working here (and even the locals on the beach) are beyond kind and helpful to us.

I’m not sure who is writing these positive reviews about this property, since I was deceived by them and booked this place for me and my family. Terrible mistake. It is nothing like what is shown in the photos and reviews. The property is very small. All the staff worked there looked terrified of something and didn’t even smile or blink. The restaurant is the worst part of all. There are no close by restaurants, so u have to depend on the hotel for all the meals. But the restaurant had over priced, very limited choices. Even the options on the menu were not available when we requested. Breakfast was limited to buns n mortadella. Cockroaches running around the restaurant was the highlight of our stay. There was one dead cockroach on the restaurant floor n the staff completely ignored to even to clean that up. So I could imagine how the kitchen could be. I had asked for 2 rooms next to each other which I highlighted few times during my conversation with the reservation team but when we arrived at night with the kids after an exhausting delayed flight, we were given rooms far away from each other so I had to walk around the property whole night Cz my kids were in different rooms. No doors in the washroom, so if u are traveling with kids or friend, don’t expect any privacy here. I was exhausted in the morning with no food n proper sleep, so we wanted to cancel our stay and move to another hotel. After few conversations with the management and the hotel staff they agreed to make full refund for the cancellation and with that in mind we booked another hotel and moved out. But until this day, ( been nearly 20 days since our cancellation ) my refund is not processed. Whenever I follow up they are coming up with technical issue in their bank account and payment processing system. Which they didn’t have when accepting the payment. My advise is, don’t fall for the exaggerated photos and reviews about this property and other properties of their group. It is a SCAM. Not worth a penny.
