What a spectacular place! My husband and I came for a spontaneous getaway for our anniversary and Surfside did not disappoint! Michelle assisted us with our reservation and she was just delightful! She gave us many suggestions on things to do and even printed maps for us. The view of the lake from the jacuzzi tub is amazing! We ate at the restaurant at Blue Fin and it was excellent. The views, the cozy space and the wonderful service made this the perfect romantic getaway. Thank you!

We got there late Sunday evening and got the last master suite of the day. The view, I imagined to head towards the lake, however unfortunately was blocked by a falling tree and bushes. The next morning I didn’t think any of it, I just left a message asking if I could switch rooms. Soon after, somebody called and left us a voicemail, THE SWEETEST VOICEMAIL EVER, to let us know there’s a room we could move to with a better lakeview. I apologized that housekeeping staff had to clean our used room that morning but the hostess was so gracious and supportive. Thanks so much to Emily, the reservation representative/front desk/hostess, our vacation got 1000% better. We had such a great night. Thanks so much also to the housekeeping staff who did the cleaning to welcome us into our new suite and cleaned up after our used room. We apologize for that and we are so thankful for your work!

We stayed at Bluefin’s “Surfside” location for our honeymoon. We loved the spacious room with large tub, comfy robes, complimentary champagne, comfy mattress and it was very quiet and clean. Nightly campfire with s’mores was fun and being able to play board games indoors when it was rainy outside. Loved that it was a dog-friendly place to stay but unfortunate that we couldn’t participate in any of the complimentary activities such as kayaking (with our dog). The room service options from Waves Cafe and Bluefin Grill were very confusing and we received conflicting information from numerous staff members throughout our stay which was frustrating. Our favorite places to eat ended up being Coho Cafe a mile or two away and Fisherman’s Daughter in Grand Marais and Shroeder Bakery a few miles away. They were more affordable and better quality food than what we initially had from Bluefin Grill. We were slightly disappointed by the lake view from our room because it felt like there were a lot of trees/tall grass/bushes in the way plus the very tiny trail that led out to the rocks was very overgrown and difficult to walk through without being concerned with ticks/bugs. No blackout curtains was a huge bummer but thankfully guest services had complimentary eye masks available so I could actually get some sleep. All in all it was a fun area to stay and explore with some pros and cons.
