Suroth Mahal Hotel

Stayed one night on a tour and was overwhelmed by the hospitality and friendliness of staff and surrounding village. A real opportunity to get a glimpse of the real India and stay in an historic castle. Loved the dancing, food and views of the village from the roof!

We had a great stay at the hotel as part of our North India trip. I would highly recommend that experience and would like to motivate travellers to talk to the people and give the village a try. The hotel is an old palace and I just can recommend it for everyone who is interested to get in touch with the rural India, it's traditions and history. The beauty of the building and the integration into the city are worth to highlight. Considering the location and the fact, that the hotel is serviced by local staff, the hotel shouldn't be compared to city hotels e.g. if it comes to sanitary installation and noise. In contrast, with choosing that hotel, a real impact can be made on the region, since the money and the employment is created where it's really needed. The hotel is still in family hands and I so far I never met a hotel owner who is that engaged if it comes to develop the area towards a direction of education and equality . In addition, having monkeys playing in the garden, feeling like an Indian princess and enjoying home made food are points making a great experience out of a simple over night stay.

My partner and I stayed here on a tour of india and had the most amazing experience. We partook in a night of dancing and laughter and then the boys played a game of cricket with me. The rooms and food were lovely and felt like we were at home. Amazing people and an unreal experience.
