The hotel is very well maintained, clean, and beautifully preserved. Guests are given slippers to walk around, which adds to the comfort and helps keep the place spotless. Rooms are equipped with effective blackout shades—essential when it’s bright 24/7 in Svalbard. The staff is extremely friendly and always ready to assist with any issue. A great experience overall.

I recently spent a week at Svalbard Hotel in Longyearbyen and had a fantastic experience. Although the rooms are on the cozier side, they were perfectly comfortable for a seven-night stay—spotlessly clean, well-appointed, and thoughtfully laid out to maximize every bit of space. The staff at Svalbard Hotel went above and beyond throughout my visit. Every team member I encountered was welcoming, knowledgeable about local excursions, and genuinely eager to help. Their warm hospitality really made me feel at home in such a remote location. Each morning, I enjoyed a hearty breakfast buffet featuring a variety of hot dishes, fresh breads, cheeses, and fruit—an ideal way to fuel up before heading out for Arctic adventures. One tip for fellow travelers: the hotel follows the Svalbard tradition of removing outdoor shoes at the door, so be sure to pack a pair of slippers or indoor shoes to keep your feet cozy in the lobby and corridors. With friendly staff, solid amenities, and a great breakfast spread, Svalbard Hotel is a wonderful base for exploring the High Arctic. Highly recommended!

Recommend this place for overnight in Longyearbyen, Svalbard. Room was clean. Bed decent. Double bed is two singles aside each other. Would be good if curtains sealed out the light, but they don’t fully. Important when it’s light out around the clock. Breakfast was included and was very good. Not crowded and kept well-stocked and clean.
