Swissôtel Poiana Brasov

Beautiful hotel. Parking was easy right in front of the hotel but they also have secured underground parking. Food in the restaurant are great that we eat in restaurants during our 2 days stay. We booked normal room but soon as we arrived in the hotel, we instantly regretted not having booked the room with private hot tub instead. Surrounding area is absolutely beautiful when we came in the summer. Can only imagine in the winter as this seem like a nice ski resort. Only little note was breakfast. It didn’t live up to the standard of the whole experience in the hotel itself. Lack of choice and poor display. We don’t think its worth to take the breakfast option for the price. Tip: definitely book room with hot tub / jacuzzi if you can!

I want to start by congratulating all the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and always had a smile on their face. The receptionists were especially helpful and answered all of my questions with patience and professionalism. At the bar, the bartenders were excellent at what they do—skilled, fast, and very friendly. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed. I stayed in an apartment with two rooms and two bathrooms, which I really appreciated—having two bathrooms meant I didn’t have to share, and that was a big plus for me. I also want to give a special thanks to the bellboys—they were always there to assist and guide us with a smile. The restaurant staff were both professional and funny, creating a great atmosphere, and the food was very good. To end on a high note: Keep up the great work! When you smile, you put a smile on your guests' faces too!

Our second visit to Swissotel Poiana Brasov reinforced our impression that while comfortable, it doesn't quite deliver the true 5-star experience its branding promises. The strengths are clear: impeccable room comfort, cleanliness, generous sizing, and stunning views deserve full marks. I noticed improvement in some staff interactions compared to our previous visit. However, significant shortcomings remain, particularly in the restaurant service. The waiters need better training in attentiveness and proper service protocols. Menu inconsistencies were frustrating, when ordering the tomahawk steak (advertised as 350-450g), I was told only a 1kg portion was available, which is simply unreasonable for an individual serving. Adding tips on the final bill without asking felt presumptuous, regardless of my willingness to tip. I am usually happy and always give tips, however I did not appreciate this gesture. The welcome experience was especially disappointing. Upon receiving welcome drink vouchers at check-in, we encountered a confused bartender who, after consulting with reception, returned laughing while offering only water, tea, or coffee, despite the voucher clearly indicating alcoholic options. This awkward interaction set an unfortunate tone for our arrival. Having experienced genuine luxury properties worldwide (Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Small Luxury Hotels chain etc.), I'm familiar with true 5-star standards. Swissotel Poiana Brasov currently delivers closer to a boutique hotel experience with prices that don't align with the service level provided. While comfortable and clean with some positive attributes, Swissotel Poiana Brasov requires significant service refinement before it can genuinely claim its 5-star designation.
