Sylvan Koh Chang is a truly amazing 5-star hotel. We spent four nights there and it was everything we could have asked for. The best part of the hotel is its location and atmosphere. The gardens and pools are always perfect. The beach is stunning, with views of three small islands. The staff is very attentive, discreet, and helpful, always ready to assist without being intrusive. The breakfast is excellent, with a great variety of dishes that change daily, which keeps it interesting. In short, Sylvan Koh Chang is highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway. The combination of its beautiful surroundings, great service, and quality amenities makes it the top choice on the island.
This is a nice hotel set on the nicest beach on Ko Chang with an amazing sand bar at low tide. - Rooms have been renovated and are clean but lack style and warmth - Breakfast is in the nice hilltop restaurant, unfortunately it means traveling by gold cart or buggy if you are staying down by the beach and when the hotel is full it gets way too busy. It would be nice if they reopened the beach breakfast restaurant so they could spread out the guests. Food quality was good. - The entire resort is huge and has lovely landscaping and grounds. We found it lacked the charm of smaller, more boutique resorts, but that is personal taste. The views were amazing and the setting is idyllic. With slightly better room quality and a better breakfast situation this place could be 5-stars.
Better Stay Somewhere Else! [ Just look at how they respond to customer feedback — instead of improving, they try to fight back. That already tells you what kind of service you can expect ] The hotel itself is quite large, and the overall location is average. However, the upper-floor rooms feel old and have a musty smell. What really ruins the experience is the service — or rather, the complete lack of service mind. From the booking process, check-in, all the way to check-out, the experience was unpleasant. At the front desk, instead of making you feel welcome, staff will warn you that *any* damage to items in the room — even if caused by monkeys outside — will be your full responsibility as a guest. Worse still, if anything goes missing or gets damaged, you will be fined with unreasonably high charges. Just a few pieces of glassware could cost more than the room itself! Basic amenities are also lacking. For example, no umbrellas are provided around the property, and even on the beach there are no complimentary towels for guests. You have to carry them from your room yourself — and of course, you must not lose them. To be fair, the restaurant staff were friendly, and the breakfast was decent, though nothing special. If you are looking for a relaxing and worry-free holiday, I strongly recommend staying somewhere
