São Francisco Accommodation

The location is perfect! The ladies working there - very kind and helpful. They offered pick up from the airport- the drivers (in and out) were so on time. The breakfast was good- fresh fruit every day. I recommend the place.

Sao Francisco is a wonderful place to stay in Funchal. The location is perfect, the staff was very friendly, the room was clean and nice, there was a free wifi. Also, there was refridgirator, Tv and climatization (I did not use it, though). There is beautiful park, place to eat and basically whole city nearby. The breakfast was satisfactory. I found the price reasonable, and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a welcome gift in my room—a bottle of water, a small local wine, and a local sweet treat. What a surprise! In conclusion, I highly recommend this accommodation. However, there may be some limitations for some more demanding people. More specifically, there was nothing really concerning for me during my stay, you may consider the following: Breakfasts were good, though a bit basic. Some guests might find them repetitive after a few days, but I was able to find what I liked every morning (for example, eggs, vegetables, mozzarella, bread, cheese & ham, juice... ) and enjoyed it. There were occasional Wi-Fi dropouts, but since I had my own internet and was outside majority of time, it wasn’t an issue for me. The pressure of water was not optimal occasionally. Also, although the place wasn’t particularly noisy (and it is even quite calm in comparisson to some other parts of the city), I always bring earplugs when I travel, so even occasional street noise wasn’t a problem. I enjoyed my stay and hope you will enjoy yours as well.

I don’t recommend this place. I spent a week here recently and it was not too comfortable. I will start with the good things: the location, the staff and the fact that it was clean. I will start with the fact that the shower tap was broken and it was constantly leaking making an annoying sound and instead of fixing it they put a towel under it. Due to this, the bathroom and the air in the room were constantly wet. I went to Madeira in a period when it was cold outside and it was chilly in the room, the AC heating was not working. The water pressure in the shower was really bad between 7-10 PM. Also, the matress is very uncomfortable, i slept really bad. You can hear the noise from other people’s rooms. The breakfast is below average, you have the same things daily and they are the cheapest options such as bread, boiled eggs, orange juice, butter, ham and yougurt. I know it is not a fancy place but I would not recommend it.
