TAHITI Taharuu Houses Surf & Beach

Stayed here a little over a week a few years ago during the Billabong Pro Teahupoo. The sleeping accommodations are very basic, but I was more than comfortable during my stay. Theirry and the crew keep a beautiful setting in a great location. It's away from the city, but not too far if you want to bus or drive in. The lodge is surrounded by all sorts of tropical fruits that are laid out for you daily. One of the few shore breaks full of friendly locals is right across the street. There's also a grocery store and a few restaurants within walking distance. Don't forget to recycle your Hinano bottles in order to get the deposit!

Simple, cozy, and accommodating. Friendly people. Easy walk to shoreline. Ample showers and toilets outside. Rooms upstairs cozy. Large lounge space and kitchen below. If you're a light sleeper like me, may want earplugs as the island roosters start early.
