Writing this review as I eat my delicious breakfast in bed. This place was truly magical. Tons of wildlife and gorgeous views outside, luxury and adorable touches on the inside. We stayed in the Kipling room and the tub and view were both incredible. Service was great. Grounds are beautifully maintained. Loved all the frogs 🐸 Already planning our next visit.
If you're searching for true serenity paired with breathtaking views, Talus Rock Retreat is exactly where you’ll find it. Nestled on a stunning, thoughtfully maintained property, the retreat is surrounded by gorgeous greenery, a tranquil pond, and a beautifully manicured lawn that invites you to simply be. We spent hours in the cozy indoor chairs, sipping wine and soaking in the stillness. It truly felt like time paused just for us. And if you're lucky, like we were, you might spot deer quietly making their way across the terrain in the early morning light. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. Our room was not only beautiful and well-appointed, but also thoughtfully located with direct outdoor access (ideal for both us and our pup). It’s clear the team here goes above and beyond to make every guest feel at home. One of the things we loved most about Talus Rock was its commitment to giving back. The property amplifies local causes, and guests are able to take part in their mission-driven efforts with opportunities to donate and support the community. Inside, the retreat exudes a cozy, lodge-like charm, equal parts rustic and refined. The atmosphere is quiet and calming, with soft music floating through the air and wooden textures that make it feel like your own private escape. For us, this has been more than just a place to stay, but it’s a place to reconnect and recharge. I could totally stay here forever!! Whether you're passing through Sandpoint or planning a longer retreat, Talus Rock Retreat is a hidden gem I can't recommend highly enough.
Stayed at the Talus house this past weekend in the Grand Arbor room. The house and the room were really nice and spacious - bed comfortable, the tree shower and tub were top notch. I did have two issues - one minor, one major. Minor - the TV signal in the room was horrible. Every channel fuzzy like the rabbit ears needed to be adjusted. Don’t spend much time in the room watching TV but at the end of the night trying to watch hockey game and in morning the news for a few mins and it was so fuzzy barely watchable. For the price they charge for a room you would think they would spring for satalite TV. Also the power button in the remote didn’t work and the remote was scotch taped together. Major- the train. The house sits in a residential neighborhood and not sure exactly how far the train tracks were beyond the trees but at least three times a night both my wife and I were awoken by the blaring train horn. To emphasize how loud - I take sleeping pills and had earplugs in and my wife is deaf in one ear and it still woke both of us up multiple times in the night. It’s a beautiful room and house but would recommend better TV service and of course the train is beyond their control but unpleasant.
