Nice hotel, good food, 99% Italian. Its a nice large hotel resort that caters to mostly Italians. Business is business at the end of the day. Beach is rocky.
I stayed at Tamra Beach Resort and everything was fine until I had a minor stomach issue. I called the hotel doctor for a quick check. He came, stayed maybe 10 minutes, and handed me half a blister of Antinal (not even a full box, which costs around €4 at any pharmacy) along with a couple of basic meds. Then came the shock: a bill for over €200. Yes — two hundred euros for something that should cost no more than €20–30 in Egypt, including medication. What made it worse? When I asked for clarification, the price changed multiple times during the conversation, as if it depended on how much I was willing to pay. This isn’t healthcare — it’s a scam disguised as a medical service. To be sure, I even went to a local pharmacy and spoke with a doctor there. He was shocked when I told him the amount I had been charged — even with the usual “resort pricing,” he said the cost should never be anywhere near that. His exact words: “That’s exploitation.” No clear pricing beforehand. No consent. No detailed invoice. And the hotel did nothing to explain or take responsibility, even when I raised the issue at checkout. ⚠️ Avoid the hotel’s medical service at all costs. Go to a licensed pharmacy or clinic outside the resort if you need treatment. And always ask for written prices before agreeing to anything. Totally unacceptable for a hotel of this category. I will not return, and I strongly advise future guests to be extremely careful.
Tamra Beach Resort was unfortunately the worst experience I’ve ever had in my travels. Starting with the extremely rude staff and continuing with the poor service conditions, everything left much to be desired. At breakfast, the menu was extremely scarce, consisting only of tasteless eggs, sausages, and various pastries, with very little quantity. When I asked for a simple bottle of water to be served at the table, I was told that water is only provided at lunch and dinner, and it was refused without any valid reason. Furthermore, the beach staff refused to serve us drinks, including beer, claiming it was finished, but we could see that wasn’t the case. In fact, it was a matter of attitude, as they refused to serve us simply because we weren’t Italian. Another annoying aspect was that all the signs, inscriptions, and information were in Italian, with no effort to write them in other languages, which implies that if you’re not Italian, you have no place here. Additionally, I had a serious issue while taking a shower. I was covered in foam when the water suddenly stopped, without any warning. I had to call the reception to ask them to reconnect the water, and it was restored only after a period of waiting. Also, the bottles of water served were already opened and seemed to be refilled with water from other sources, not bottled water, which is completely unacceptable. Overall, I would not recommend this resort, even for one night, as it is definitely not worth the money. This resort seems to be mainly aimed at older adults, particularly those in their third age. The activities and facilities are extremely limited for young people, and the overall atmosphere is quiet and less lively. It is a destination that doesn’t offer many options for entertainment or recreation for younger guests, with the beach being the only available option. If you’re looking for a place with diverse activities and a vibrant atmosphere, this resort is not suitable.
