What a fantastic place! We ended up staying there for one night after our flight back to Port Vila was cancelled. Everything was perfect: the staff is very professional and kind, the hotel’s design really respects the local ways and blends in the landscape (corals are used for the walls and roofs are traditionally thatched using coconut leaves). The pool is one of the best we’ve ever seen. Staff is extremely friendly and efficient at what they do. We spoke with Stefanie and Michael who designed and built most of the place, and it’s obvious that they really value respecting the local ways and the natural environment. Really great people, and really nice place to stay. Highly recommended !

Manage Expectations – Team at Reception does a great Job We stayed at Evergreen Resort from 13–16 August 2025 (3 nights), starting in Budget Bungalow BB3, then moving to BB4 on the second night, and finally staying in Y103 on the last night, as BB4 had a leaking roof. Yes, the rooms are dated, but they were ok clean and comfortable enough for a short stay, and yes, the resort overall could use a refresh / uplift. The main service area, including reception and the restaurant, are maintained and tidy. The rest of the resort appears abandoned and neglected after cyclone Pam caused much devastation on the island back in 2015. Location is convenient (next to airport and close to the Blue Hole and the Blue Cave) and we had a good experience with our guide Fred doing the Mt Yasur tour. He was an excellent driver. The reception staff is helpful and accommodating the many requests from guests. Check recent photos and reviews before booking and don’t go by what the website presents. And set your expectations.

We stayed at the resort for 3 nights. It’s quite a lot more basic than the photos would lead you to believe, but we enjoyed our stay. The 2 person shower turned out to have only one shower head and if you are a light sleeper, take an eye mask as the windows are covered by wooden blinds and sheer curtains. There were 2 tsunamis on consecutive days when we were there, so we didn’t get any snorkeling done. There’s not much else to do at the resort as the pool has a leak. They were affected by the cyclone and the repairs are ongoing. It would’ve been great if they had some sun loungers or comfy chairs to lie or sit and read a book. Quite a large misunderstanding led to our ultimate volcano safari tour not being booked, so we almost missed out, but the resort was able to sort it out at the last minute and we went on our last day. It was worth the wait. If you book a tour with them, confirm, re-confirm and re-confirm again. The staff are helpful and pleasant. They have a different service mindset to Australia and New Zealand, so you may have to ask a couple of times for things and island time is definitely a thing! The view from the pool is stunning, especially at sunset and you’ll see in my photos (3&4), one of the tsunami waves!
