Honestly after reading all the bad reviews i wanted to cancel my reservation! But seems that all these bad reviews are wrong. The hotel is amazing. Beautiful spot in the heart of istanbul. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is amazing with a beautiful view on the 9th floor. I really recommend this hotel
To give a fair review, honestly I wasn't expecting much given the bad reviews I read after the husband booked. Wanted a refund and book hotels elsewhere but couldn't since there's a non-refundable policy. But surprisingly, the concierge (didn't get his name) was super understanding, welcoming and friendly, having known we arrived 9am in the morning in the cold light rain, he gave us a room and even said we could get some breakfast though we were only supposed to check in at 2pm. The room was a standard room with no view, only window facing the interior of the hotel which we had to draw curtains 24/7 for privacy but I wasn't complaining because the room was huge and new. The facing was weird, bed right in the middle but I can still do this for a couple of nights. Breakfast was ok with a view. I like the honeycomb every morning. The hotel is also near to metro station and the walking street.
⸻ To: Hotel Management Sofitel [Taksin/Sukhumvit ] Date: [18/6/2025] Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Unhygienic Room, Insect Infestation, and Inadequate Response Dear Management, I am writing to formally raise a serious complaint regarding my stay at your hotel, which fell far below the standards expected from a Sofitel property. After requesting my room to be cleaned, I returned late at night to find it in a completely unacceptable condition. The room had not been cleaned, dirty towels remained, and the window was left open, allowing numerous insects, mosquitoes, and even bedbugs to enter. The infestation made the room entirely uninhabitable. Additionally, I was shocked to find the smoke detector stained and partially covered with a dirty tissue, which is both a fire safety hazard and a clear sign of poor housekeeping standards. I went down to the front desk to report the issue and request a solution. I was told that there were no available rooms. However, when I checked Booking.com, I saw several rooms still available for booking. Only after insisting, I was moved to a smaller room than the one I had originally booked — a downgrade that added further frustration. When I requested to speak with the manager, I was told no manager was available at night and no one could assist me beyond the front desk staff. I was only offered two unsatisfactory options: either wait while the room is cleaned and insects are removed in the middle of the night, or accept the downgraded room. To make matters worse, I asked for a refund so I could move to another hotel, and this request was denied. I then requested an upgrade to a better room given the inconvenience, and was told I did not “deserve” an upgrade because, according to staff, the issue “did not justify” one — a response that I found highly inappropriate and unprofessional. This experience was unacceptable on every level — from the lack of cleanliness and health hazards, to the dishonesty and disrespect from staff, and the refusal to provide a proper solution or even acknowledge the seriousness of the situation. I request a full explanation, a formal apology, and appropriate compensation for the discomfort, disrespect, and poor service I encountered. I also urge you to review your night-shift service procedures, housekeeping quality, and safety standards. Sincerely, Faisal Alhejaily Room Number: 1110 Check-in Date: 17/6/2025
