Tekapo Ski Club Retreat

A wonderful venue for an extended family gathering - 14 of us but can accommodate 24. Very tastefully designed, great views over Lake Tekapo, extremely well equipped.

We stayed at this homestay and unfortunately experienced a serious issue during our stay. In the middle of the night, the electricity suddenly tripped and the entire property lost power. What made the situation even worse was that the host was completely unreachable at the time. There was no emergency contact provided, no backup plan, and no way for us to get help in what was clearly an urgent situation. It took us over an hour to finally get in touch with the helpful owner of the house which doesn’t involve in operation. While the management company host leaving us in complete darkness and uncertainty. When we finally reached them, we were told they do not operate 24/7, which is completely unacceptable for any accommodation offering overnight stays. Running a homestay is not just about providing a place to sleep—it’s about ensuring the basic safety and well-being of your guests. Failing to respond during emergencies, especially when your property has unstable electricity, shows a serious lack of responsibility and preparedness. I strongly urge future guests to consider this before booking. And I sincerely hope the host takes this matter seriously and puts proper emergency procedures in place moving forward.
