Paid for a renovated room and it is quite nicely decorated.....needs a few more hooks to hang bathrobes and towels in the bathroom....only one hook at present. Light between beds is a bit awkward, as it doesn't allow each occupant to have a separate light to read in case the other occupant wants to sleep. Everything else was good. Mineral pool is quite warm....lovely in the evening when the sun goes down. Nice patio area surrounds the pool, free cold water to drink, ice cold towelettes smelling of eucalyptus available to cool down and free towels to dry off. Very nice atmosphere.
It was a great experience overall staying at Temple Gardens. The place is very nostalgic and in accordance to the theme of Moose Jaw's little Chicago. Inside the hotel is also good. The rooms however are kinda outdated a bit, but still good for my liking. We stayed in a pet friendly room with our dog, and they were very much welcome there. The first room we were in had the tub's water line completely shut off so we were transferred to a different room, that room looked different than the other one despite being few doors apart. One had more lamps than the other, the other one had foot rest in the sofa. Not a concern but just an information. The mineral pool and spa are the star of the show though. Make sure to go there. The place is very strategically located downtown.
Pros: the location of the hotel made it easy to walk wherever we wanted to go. We were very close to many great restaurants and the famous Moose Jaw Tunnels tour. Our room was clean and they didn't skimp on the coffee pods or towels. The pool was nice and I liked the bookcase in the cafe area as well as the breakfast options available for purchase. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but I got an excellent martini in the cozy bar area. Any staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Cons: Our room was on the shabby side--furniture definitely showing wear and tear, ancient a/c unit was very loud and not very effective at cooling our room. The TV inexplicably turned off at exactly 11:30 pm every night and wouldn't work again until the next day. In the pool area it would have been nice to have the cooling shower working. And some parts of the pool looked dirty You can definitely tell the hotel is in a transition period as the lobby is shiny and new while other parts of the property look like they are still waiting for their turn to be fixed up.
