We stumbled upon Temple Gate, simply looking for a hotel close to Shannon Airport and was pleasantly pleased with our accommodations, so much so we stayed another night. The hotel staff was exceptionally welcoming, assisted in every way to make our stay memorable. From front desk services, room comfort and other service, and meals in the pub, we couldn't be more pleased. I especially want to give a shout out to our receptionist Maria for all she did to make our stay so enjoyable, giving us great tips for exploring the town, including 'must-see' attractions, and just otherwise taking the time from a very busy workday to give us her uninterrupted attention. For these reasons, and others, we will use Temple Gate again as our number 1 choice in our return trips to Ireland.

The Temple Gate hotel was clean and conveniently located. Neal and other front desk staff were very helpful and truly knowledgeable of the hotel’s and the area’s rich history. The rooms were nice and very clean. My only critique is that there is no AC, which is not unusual in this area and the rooms had plug-in standing fans, which helped along with opening windows. I’m just spoiled by AC, so I’m a bit picky in this regard. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We had a family event in Ennis this weekend and we were struggling to find accommodation and the only place available on the Saturday was the Temple gate. The charge for a night was €288 bed and breakfast for a family room 2 adults 2 kids. I was expecting more for the price. Hotel fairly dated, I would say a mid 3 star. To not have dinner included in this price is scandalous. I don't know how these prices are justifiable. Breakfast was just ok. Staff not very attentive. Had to find staff to ask for more plates and coffee for the table at breakfast. Very basic selection too. At these prices I would have expected more. I get that it's high wedding season in Ennis but just feel we were taken advantage of. Hotels in this country are getting out of control. No swimming pool and amenities lacking so to charge extortionate room prices leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Very disappointed and will obviously not return until their prices are greatly reduced and offer value for money
