Tenuta Le Cave

A serene sanctuary in Italian nature! Nestled near the vineyard where grapes for the local wine are harvested. Make sure to try it at the Tenuta restaurant, it’s a must. The only downside was that the toiletries provided were insufficient.

Pleasant stay, nice staff and perfect size. Not too big, but big enough to have all the services you need. (Would be nice to have a cold plunge in the spa though.) Good selection of food, wine and drinks. Attentive staff. We visited in November.

We received a follow up after our stay asking for feedback/reviews. I sent an email with the following feedback but did not receive a response. When checking out, we tried to speak with the woman about our concerns but we got a non apology and in no way did they care to take our feedback into consideration. We already had a negative experience with trying to reschedule our stay after we had a death in our family. Every other hotel we had booked non refundable rooms with were able to reschedule our stay for later in the year with us just paying the difference in the rate. We were told no that due to the accounts we couldn’t do this. We would not have rebooked with your hotel if we had not received a 250 euro voucher as a wedding gift. This voucher was supposed to go towards dinner and massages but with having to rebook, that used most of the voucher. We decided to let that negative experience go and just enjoy our stay and relax. We were not welcomed with any mention of it being our honeymoon or any information other than the timings of breakfast etc. We were told there was wine tasting at 5pm but could not book on the day but were told we could have a similar experience with the sommelier explaining the wines if we added on the wine to our tasting dinner. We agreed to do this since that was all that was available to us since this was our first dinner on our honeymoon. We asked about purchasing a small lunch or snack but the girl checking us in looked annoyed and said they could maybe ask the chef if he'd be willing to make us something. We didn't feel welcome to that option so we opted to move our dinner up which we were treated like this was a favor to us. We then relaxed by the pool but were surprised at the lack of service while we were at the pool. No offer to order food or drink although there was a waiter serving other people at the pool. We found the service at dinner to be the worst part of the stay. We were served so quickly that the 4 courses were served within 50 minutes and the pours of wine were small served within no explanation about how the wine goes with the dish so not at all the wine tasting experience we were told we would receive. This was my husband’s first tasting menu but as I have done many, I was severely disappointed with the quality of the food considering it was our most expensive meal on our trip. Once the 4 courses were over, we were not offered any coffee or if we wanted any other drinks, we just sat waiting for 20 minutes or more until we got up ourselves. We then had to keep going to the reception to order cocktails. Nothing was ever offered and the attitude of the workers was in general not very good, the entire stay we had to go find reception- to ask for drinks, pool towels and anything else we might have needed. We stayed at 6 other hotels during our stay including tasting dinners and had a much better experience. We did try to convey our disappointment with the receptionist upon checkout but she just agreed with us that the dinner was very fast but nothing other than that offered. I would not recommend staying at this hotel which is a shame because the hotel is beautiful and in a gorgeous location. We really thought this night was going to be the best of our honeymoon, but we remain very disappointed.
