Had a great experience spending the day at the Terrou-Bi hotel pool! The access price was definitely higher than usual, likely because of the vacation season, so it felt a bit expensive for just a day. That said, if you're looking to treat yourself, it's absolutely worth it. The pool is clean, the atmosphere is calm and luxurious, and the service was excellent. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the ocean view in a serene setting. A great way to splurge for a special day
The location and their onsite amenities are the best talking points for this hotel. Unfortunately, service, food and a welcoming atmosphere are just average and not worth the high end price tag on the bill. The staff however, is amazing at apologizing on the spot but zero effort into resolving issues or following up leaves their upfront apology lacking sincerity. Management seemed to care about their image but often times lead the charge in chaos, misinformation and or confusion. So, the next trip to Senegal, I’ll opt for a different property in hopes of better stay.
Deeply Disappointed – Unworthy of a Recommendation I was genuinely excited for this trip, especially since friends in the U.S. had recommended this hotel. Sadly, my experience has been nothing short of a disappointment. I booked an ocean view room, but the windows were dirty, and there were no screens — so opening the door meant risking mosquito bites. Construction signs were up, and there was constant painting and maintenance work throughout the day. It felt like I was staying in the middle of a renovation project rather than a relaxing hotel. Getting rest was impossible. What shocked me even more was that housekeeping deliberately placed a Do Not Disturb sign on my door without my permission — just so they wouldn’t have to clean my room. I had to call just to get basic cleaning services. As an Executive General Manager at a hotel in the U.S., this level of service and disregard for guests is unacceptable. The air conditioning was unreliable, cutting in and out. I haven’t had one full night of rest. On top of that, I was charged twice for the same stay. I made my payment online in front of the front desk staff due to a minor issue with my reservation, yet they still managed to charge my card again. I wasn’t informed directly — instead, I discovered a note attached to a fruit tray, sent after my best friend’s aunt had to personally intervene and come to the hotel to advocate on my behalf. And let me be clear: I do not compare countries. I’ve traveled extensively and I understand that hospitality standards can vary — that’s never been an issue for me. What matters is respect, transparency, and effort. That’s what was missing here. Yes — it took a respected local elder showing up in person for the hotel to even begin addressing these serious concerns. That alone says a lot about how guests — especially international ones — are treated. They offered to move me to another room, but by that point I was too drained and disheartened to deal with another shuffle. I came to Senegal with love and respect for the culture. It’s a country I care deeply about. My favorite food is Senegalese. I came for the experience, for the people — and this hotel has cast a shadow over it all. Where I lay my head at night, I should feel safe, respected, and cared for. I felt none of that here. I am heartbroken. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I hope the management takes a long, hard look at how they operate.
