TH La Thuile Planibel Hotel

Very poor signage and a confusing layout ensures a lot of walking around the hotel trying to navigate. After about 4 days you will be able to get around with confidence. If you come by coach expect a steep walk up to hotel reception with all of your luggage. Snow was very good when we there end of March 2025 no queues for the lifts and no problem with high winds.

We recently spent two weeks at this hotel with our family, my wife, our 1-year-old, and 3-year-old and while there were several highlights, our stay was marred by some significant drawbacks. The Positives Our room was nicely decorated, modern, and provided a comfortable retreat after our daily adventures. The hotel’s kids club was a definite plus, keeping our little ones engaged and entertained (however closed on Sunday) We were consistently impressed with the dinner offerings. The food was extraordinary, with a wide variety of choices to cater to all tastes, and the restaurant staff were notably friendly and attentive. The hotel’s location was ideal, being just 50 meters from the slope, which made it very convenient for our family’s daily outings. The Negatives Our first impressions were soured by the reception team, whose rudeness and apparent lack of guidance left us feeling unwelcome and frustrated. The pool area felt outdated, reminiscent of the '90s, especially with the requirement to use a swimming cup. Accessing the spa/pool area involved passing through a perpetually chilly reception area due to always-open doors. The need to pre-book the pool/spa area thought TH APP, even though it was free of charge, felt unnecessarily restrictive. It was disappointing to learn that basic amenities like bathrobes, towels, and even slippers required an extra fee, so it was best to bring your own. Despite daily cleaning, our room’s floor consistently appeared unclean, leaving us questioning the thoroughness of the service. The dinner service began too late, which was problematic for our children.

Not a 4 star hotel. Shocking service all round. Nightmare check in with them claiming we’d booked 1 room for 1 person (in reality it was 2 rooms for 2 people) with no apology with the stress caused and delay to that mornings ski, very bluntly asked for our rooms and name breakfast for sitting in the wrong area, with no explanation or friendly service. With checkout we weren’t given an option to shower unless we paid and no thank you or opinion on how our stay was. Rooms were spacious but incredibly loud from kids running about and adults coming back from late nights. Location is close to the lifts but again it’s loud on an evening. It’s a very strange vibe, more felt like school at breakfast is a massive basement refectory. I’ve stayed in a nicer 1 star hotel and I’m sure you can find better value for money elsewhere in la thuille. Be aware of the 5 star reviews from local guides.
