Absolutely lovely accommodation, 3 bungalows positioned around a lovely pool only 5 minute walk from the beach. The bungalows are delightfully decorated with great and thoughtful touches (different towels got bathroom and poolside etc). In addition to lovely accommodation, Murray and his family and staff at the bungalows are all brilliant with advice, recommendations and just generally making sure you have a great stay.

We stayed in Sri Lanka for 2 weeks in December and January 2021/22, in a range of hotels and price points. Thalpe bungalows was our favourite. The bungalows are spacious, nicely decorated, well equipped and comfortable. You have a fridge and a little space to hang out indoors as well as a big bed with a mosquito net and a big spacious bathroom. Outside there's space to read in the shade with a fan and sun beds for tanning by the pool. The team there is really nice and can give you tips or let you be as you need. We found the place was super clean and there was nothing we missed. Breakfast was tasty too with eggs made as you like them. The bungalows are a 5-10 min walk from wijaya beach which is a nice small beach, if a bit crowded. A little further along galle and unawatuna had lots of options for restaurants and evening entertainment. The team at the bungalows were on hand to help with transport of needed. Would definitely recommend for a few relaxing days in Sri Lanka's south coast.

The place was nice and the villa was spacious and clean. BUT the hostess was the most rude and disrespectful person I have met so far, she treated us like common criminals probably because we were not WHITE! We literally just walked in and she was horrible to us, and oozing with sweetness to the white couple who came in after us. We decided to let it go and not ruin our holiday and actually left the hotel to go another place and only came back to sleep. The next day she told us the people who own the hotel ( foreigners) have told her to warn the locals, not to speak loudly, not to have parties, not to have music and not to have friends, do they think locals/Sri Lankan’s are hooligans or cave people to issue warnings like this? I am sure the owners never asked her to discriminate and treat Sri Lankans in this manner! She served us the most horrible breakfast still acting superior! We will never return to this place again and hopefully after seeing this post the owners and the hostess will treat locals with respect as we pay the same amount and we too are humans regardless of the color of our skin!!
