Absolutely beautiful traditional home, stylishly converted into a boutique hotel. We loved every minute of our stay at Thambu Illam. Every space is carefully and beautifully decorated, service is impeccable and there is a sweet garden and refreshing pool to wrap up the day. This is the perfect spot to explore Jaffna and I hope to visit again soon.
Lovely boutique hotel in a converted family house. Lots of homely touches made us feel relaxed and at home. Food is brought in but very professionally served by a very friendly waiter. Even the room keys are antique. The rooms are large and comfortable. Thick walls (and A/C) make for respite from the heat. The only downside was finding it in the maze of Jaffna streets.
Fairly central little boutique hotel. Lovely homely ambiance. Has a small plunge pool. Meals have to pre ordered. The rooms have all amenities. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. The only caveat is the front room. You are woken up by 5:30 am by traffic sounds, temple bells and music from surrounding houses.
