The Academy Small Luxury Hotels of the World

I attended a corporate event today and we used the courtyard for the evening. Service was first class from the beginning until we finished around 8.30pm. A variety of canapés and drinks were served during the evening. Staff were amazing, everyone was with a smile. Sandra, the hotel manager was impressive and has a good knowledge of the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Thank you to The Academy for such a wonderful stay! This is our third time staying at this hotel, and Felix recognised us when we arrived and gave us a complimentary drink upon arrival for our customer loyalty. There was an issue with the TV not working in our room, so they kindly moved us to another room with a working TV the second night of our stay; whilst preparing our second room they treated us to another complimentary drink. They also went to the lengths of putting a can of Coke with my name on it in the mini-fridge! I would give the rooms a rating of 4/5, as the air cons are extremely loud so we had to have it off to sleep. The service is unbeatable, with Davidae also needing a special shout out. Other positives include: a fantastic continental breakfast with great coffee; great location within walking distance of sought after areas; comfy, large beds; Elemis products in the bathroom.

Warning - there is no lift! We did not know this. Staff helped us carry up our heavy suitcases to the top floor. There is no counter space in the bathroom so I had to use the closed toilet seat cover. Breakfast buffet is cold food only. To make up for the stairs, I suppose, there is a complementary couple of small bags of biscuits, soft drinks, and water. Coffee and tea service are there too, of course. Rooms were nicely decorated and decent sized for London. Too bad the ironing board could not be tucked out of site. Bathrobes and slippers provided.
