I chose The Address Hotel in Akakura based on the wealth of glowing reviews across Google, Booking.com, and TripAdvisor—and I can confidently say it exceeded every expectation. From the very beginning, the communication was flawless. John, the owner, was nothing short of exceptional. His attentive support both before and during our trip made our experience truly unforgettable. The hotel itself is immaculate, thoughtfully designed, and equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. But what truly sets this place apart is John’s personal touch. His dedication to ensuring guests have the best possible experience is unparalleled. He went above and beyond by personally collecting us from Myokokogen Station and remained available throughout our stay, offering invaluable advice and support via WhatsApp whenever needed. John also owns The Matsuya in Akakura, which is undergoing exciting renovations this summer—no doubt it will be another top-tier destination by Winter 2025/26. Thank you, John, for making our holiday truly extraordinary. We can’t wait to return!

What an incredible stay, John is the nicest and most service oriented hotel owner I’ve ever interacted. He genuinely cares about his guests enjoyment and comfort. He also makes the best sake himself, I bought a few bottles to take home. The rooms are large, comfortable and even have a kitchen for those that want to cook. That said the food at the hotel is exceptional, it’s apparent the cook Nakaito treats cooking even the simplest dishes with lots of care. The onsen was also really nice at the end of the day, temp was nice and hot during our stay. I highly recommend and will be staying here again for sure.

Liked: - The location is in a perfect spot when staying in Akakura, right on the main strip and directly across from the convenient store. - The room itself was spacious and family friendly. Has all of the amenities you need like a small kitchenette with fridge and kettle. Beds were also very comfortable. Didn’t like: - We stayed over 2 years ago and absolutely loved our stay. Unfortunately, it seems this hotel has changed owners and lost its vibe and warmth. - The bar and restaurant they advertise on their website is basically non existent. The bar was never open during our 6 nights. There was no vibe, you walk into a dark room with no lights on or anyone there. Reception area is the same. - The rooms don't get cleaned / made up for you. For our 6 nights there, we didn't get fresh sheets or towels once, and our bins weren't emptied either. We had to ask for fresh towels and bins to be emptied. - The bath / shower drain was continuously clogged. - The dryroom didn't dry our snow gear in the day so we had to bring our gear up to our room every day to ensure it dried. - We found a few of the staff members not very friendly which made us feel not welcome and awkward.
