What's not to like about this place? The scenery is stunning! The service is exceptional. The level of luxury and comfort is something you just don't see all that often. This place is truly a gem!! On our first night, we asked if there was any way we could get a mosquito net for our daughter's inflatable bed. Within minutes there were two members from the house-keeping team hanging the most beautiful net all the way from the ceiling to wrap around her bed. She called it her princess bed for the remainder of the trip. This level of service continued until we left! Amazing.
Overview- The Alena Resort is a perfect place to enjoy a luxurious, serene or romantic stay. Staff- The staff and service are some of the best we've had in any hotel, extremely attentive and discreet. Layout- The rooms and villas within the grounds are scattered amongst natural stone pathways and trees. All building materials are natural, which gives the whole resort a beautiful and natural feeling. There are multiple levels and stepping stones connecting each area. These did get a little slippery especially following rainfall so care must be taken. There are two outdoor pools, one with a dedicated bar, the other is serviced via the restaurant bar. Room- The room we stayed in was a deluxe suite. The bed was massive and we found it to be very comfortable. The room had good A/C, a decent smart TV and a mini bar fridge, and a balcony overlooking trees. The bathroom was big, featuring a huge stone bath as well as a rainfall type shower with good quality wash products. Health / Spa- The massage treatments we had at the spa were excellent. The spa feels luxurious and peaceful. The jacuzzi is a good size and set amongst natural stone wood and plants. The sauna was hot but not wood fired and uses electric heating elements which are against your back. The steam room is small and got nice and hot. There are no timers in either room. There was also a decent sized gym with a few different machines available, and a separate room for Yoga. Dining- The restaurant which I've reviewed separately was excellent too with a large selection of styles to suit most tastes. The included breakfast was 3 courses with plenty of choice. I recommend trying the smoothies. The full restaurant menu was also available as room service. Location- The Alena is close enough to Ubud to enjoy the town by taxi. The hotel offers free shuttle service to Ubud and back a few times each day. Summary- If you want to unwind and relax surrounded by luxury and nature this place will be hard to beat.
I recently stayed at Alena Resort in Ubud. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food served at the resort was also quite good. I also had the chance to try their spa and massage, which were excellent very relaxing and professional. However, there are a few areas that need improvement: 1. Sound isolation in the rooms is very poor. We could hear everything outside from other guests to animals at night which made it difficult to sleep well. 2. The towels provided had an unpleasant smell, which gave the impression they weren’t fresh. 3. The bed frame design tends to gather dirt and even dead insects on top, and it doesn’t seem to be cleaned regularly. 4. There is no protection on the doors and balcony rooms from insects, which makes it hard to keep the space comfortable, especially in a tropical area like Ubud. Overall, while the warm hospitality, good food, and excellent spa treatments were commendable, the room conditions and cleanliness standards definitely need attention. With improvements in these areas, Alena Resort could offer a much more restful and enjoyable stay.
