The Anchor Inn Beachfront Motel

Fantastic stay, the sea view rooms had a view right across the bay and seats outside. The road was rather quiet, so nice to sit out the front and have breakfast while the sun comes up. The proprietor was really friendly, and had some good suggestions from their DVD library. She was also very knowledgeable about the local restaurants and things to do in the local area, and pointed out some great options we would have missed. The room felt really large, was clean and everything you'd expect.

Ownership changed in April and the new hosts are terrific, they were so accommodating and even allowed for an early check-in due to our room being available at the time. We were caught out by a ferry cancellation and called to ensure a dog-friendly room was available and was offered a garden room which looked to have been recently renovated and was spacious and clean. We made use of the on-site EV charger (which had a Type-2 plug) which was also very handy. Great price, great location right on the beach front, and great local knowledge from the hosts. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Kaikoura.

This was an amazing place to stay the room was value for money, walking distance to the beach (across the road) and not far from the town center. And as you can see in the pictures and amazing view and the icing on the cake was an amazing owner. They offer air-conditioning, DVDs if wanted and an area for washing clothes and washing the car as well as cleaning the fish and a BBQ to cook it. So if you are in Kaikoura or thinking of going there I recommend you give them a try as I'll be recommending them to both friends and family.
