We booked here as wanted to visit friends. You book in and have breakfast across the road at Britannia hotel which isn't a problem. Greeted by friendly staff and welcoming. There is no car park. But there is a car park 2- 3 minutes walk from hotel. It's Cove car park and £2.50 for 24 hours. The hotel is a 2* and been recently decorated and had other work done. It is nice for a 2*. Clean and tidy. And not too noisy. Bed was comfortable and is extra pillows. We didn't have any issues with this hotel. It's convenient for high street which 5 minute walk. Right on the Harbour which is nice to look at whilst eating breakfast. Would recommend and stay again.
Good Value and well located, has had a recent refurb so nice to see an effort being made. Let down by the small touches; brand new TV on room but it wasn't receiving anything, no lock on bathroom door and free WiFi , apparently, the password for which was not given anywhere!
Despite the attractive pictures shown online, the property turned out to be a complete disappointment. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a strong, pungent smell of paint and resins that made it extremely difficult to breathe. The place was far from clean — the floor and entire room were dusty, and was filled with the paint smell, which triggered my allergy and caused my wife to develop a skin reaction. It was evident that renovation or maintenance work had been done recently, but the property was left in an unacceptable condition. I couldn’t stop sneezing the whole time. To make matters worse, the bathroom shower wasn’t functioning properly — only boiling hot water was available. I honestly regret not booking an Airbnb instead, which would’ve been cheaper and likely more comfortable. The next morning, we were disturbed by loud, persistent alarm noises coming from the property, making it even more unbearable. I raised these issues with the staff, and after we checked out, I received a call saying the cold water “would work” if I pumped the shower several times and waited patiently. Maybe they sorted after that, we tried all the possible ways. Am I expected to study plumbing just to take a basic shower? This was hands down the worst stay I’ve ever experienced.
