The Ashton

What a beautiful place! I spent the grand total of 9 hours here while in transit from the Isle of Man to London, but it was lovely. Such a warm, welcoming place with perfect attention to detail in the rooms. Fresh milk, real coffee, a lovely variety of tea, some lovely cookies and some jelly beans, plus water and glasses by the bed. Also dog friendly, if this is something that ticks a box for you. The room was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and the shower was fabulous. Breakfast was heaven - a variety of fresh fruits, berries, yogurts and freshly cooked local produce. I shall definitely be going back for a relaxing weekend, it was so lovely! Thank you for your hospitality.

My partner and I stayed overnight at the Ashton. James is a marvelous host. The building is in a great location, peaceful and yet walking distance to the town (down the hill at least). Complimentary wine, some lovely chat with James, plus his superb homemade cake on arrival were the sort of thing that sets the Ashton apart. The breakfast was excellent and bountiful. The room was a delight, a great bed and soft bedding. James runs the best B&B I've ever visited. If I need to come to Lancaster I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Ashton.

A gem of a place. Excellent value for money. Large, comfortable, stylish rooms. Spacious bathrooms with powerful showers. Comfortable common areas with an excellent honesty bar (when the house white is an Italian Sav Blanc, you're in good hands). Great breakfast with strong coffee to help you on your way. If you're in the area, this is the place to stay.
