My stay at The Barefoot Hotel was a truly unique and special experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease. The vibes of the hotel is incredibly peaceful and calming. It's really perfect for anyone looking to relax and unwind. The staff were extremely friendly and always ready to help with a smile, which added a personal touch to the whole experience. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, reflecting the hotel's high standards of cleanliness and comfort. The pool was absolutely lovely, clean, refreshing, and surrounded by a tranquil setting. The beach was another highlight of the stay: beautifully maintained, quiet, and perfect for a peaceful walk or simply enjoying the sunset. One of the most charming aspects of the hotel was the small library. It offered a beautiful collection of multilingual books, including some truly rare and valuable ones. There were also board games available, which made it easy to enjoy some fun, relaxed time indoors. Next to the restaurant, there was a cozy area where movie nights were held, a thoughtful touch that made the evenings even more enjoyable. Overall, The Barefoot is a hidden gem. It offers a combination of comfort, cleanliness, and serenity that is hard to find. I left feeling refreshed and mentally relaxed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and heartwarming getaway.
This was one of the best resorts ever. The service was high class, and the rooms were exquisite. Food was fantastic (especially at the evenings) with an open view to the ocean. What I really like that it was so casual over there. If you want to dress up, you can but if you don’t want, you don’t have to. Beach was amazing there and if you want you can go on snorkeling or diving trips. The only negative points: You can get alcohol there and the town isn’t really interesting.
When approaching the 'international' airport of Hanimaadhoo (and it always goes through that) you can start to panic as to whether this island was actually the right choice. Companies from India are investing heavily here, so that not only 737s and A320s can land there, but a completely new seaplane terminal will also be opened in future. Until then, it's just plain ugly. Maybe the asphalt road will then be extended, which on one side goes NOT to the resort and on the other NOT through to the airport. But once you've left all that behind you, your vacation begins! The relatively large resort has been visually integrated very well into the landscape; the individual houses are hardly noticeable, even when looking from the wonderful beach. The interior looks well-kept and the wonderful and very friendly staff immediately make you feel welcome here. The international audience of all age groups increasingly speaks more German and hardly any Russian. The resort offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in buffet form, but if you want to pay attention to your figure, the Breakfast & Dinner Combo will certainly suffice. The resort operates its own bar ship, which is located a few hundred meters off the coast and is served directly from the resort by speedboat twice in the evening (before and after dinner), as there will be - in the strictly Muslim Maldives - no alcohol served on islands with locals. The leisure and recreational offerings range from diving to massage. All prices are in US dollars (+tax) and at the typical Maldivian level. Bicycles can also be rented free of charge to explore the island. In the end - as is often the case - it is only the little things that are missing for a 5-star rating: there where bedside tables missing. The hammocks on the veranda are a nice photo motif. But when they are in use all year round and exposed to the elements, they can be a bit moldy. The bar boat has a diesel genset running all the time, which is little 'Eco'.
