We booked very last minute when we found the Settle in Sunday rate. What a find! I hadn't spotted that a family room is actually 2 adjoining rooms both with ensuite bathrooms which was a massive bonus. The rooms were very comfortable. My daughter loved the bunk bed. The lion and book were a lovely welcome gift for her. Our extras were also happily received. We enjoyed sitting in the reception area with our glasses of wine, reading the paper and playing a game of chess. It's great that you get access to the outdoor swimming pool and spa area. Children can only use the pool from 9-10 and 4-5pm. This means coordinating breakfast and a swim in the morning. We got up in good time to enjoy our breakfast first. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. It was lovely to enjoy a swim before checking out. We will happily return when we have the chance to treat ourselves again.
We just got married here on Friday and it was an absolutely perfect day which has been massively down to the Barnsdale and all the staff which made the day so special for us. Nothing was a bother and everyone went above and beyond to give us the dreamiest day! Beth in particular has been incredible throughout the whole process and we will always be grateful for the hotel! Looking forward to coming back to celebrate in the future ❤️
Stayed for two nights in July with our two dogs. £25 per dog per night! Liked the decor, tea and coffee in room, dog bed, treats and bowls provided all great. Beautiful location, pool and spa, plenty of walks and places to eat with or without the dogs. For other guests comfort asked not to leave dogs alone in room which is fair enough. If had been warmer weather might have struggled without air con and no through breeze also no extractor in bathroom so in winter could likely get pretty steamy with windows closed. Liked all the nooks and places to sit and relax, there was a wedding one night which was outside window, didn't bother us but understand it would have if we were looking for peace away from it all. Lovely breakfast and staff happy to provide fresh eggs any which way from chef. Remember to order your news paper, though if you forget there are dailies in the Orangery. Second night fella ordered lamb and red wine, probably as it was busy lamb was overcooked, but was acknowledged and reflection made on bill. Would visit again. All staff lovely, on the expensive side but if you use all the amenities very restorative. Thank you Barnsdale 😊
