This is just about the bar food, the rest of the hotel seems to be mothballed. We were in the middle of a long journey so stopped in here with the kids, the food was really, really poor. Full disclosure we did eat most of it because we were starving, but the quality of the ingredients was so bad. Two baby bowls, that was seemed to be just smash and gravy, no veg. 5 year old had goujons and chips. Goujons straight from a freezer, the chips were golden and crispy, but you could taste that the oil they were cooked in was very old. We had caesar salads - croutons were just strips of toast, with cheap multi purpose seasoning, again the chicken tasted like it was cooked on a grill that was in use all day without being cleaned down. Sauce was non descript. Lettuce did seem fresh. Bacon bits were a cheap aldi/lidl job. Staff were good, but rushed off their feet. We did have to wait a long time, which is normally fine as place was busy, but after a while we noticed nobody else was being served either. Said it to staff when paying and they mentioned something was up with the kitchen. Its really a 1 star, but gave it 2 as the staff could only work with what they were given and were coping well considering. Mentioned when paying that we thought it was poor, they did apologise but not much they could do really. We did eat most as we were starving, and everywhere else was rammed Mens toilets stank to high heaven, the girls said the ladies were fine.

We came here for food and we were very disappointed. I ordered the sea food chowder and it was like a bowl of warm milk with some fish meat in it. Portion sizes were very small for the price we paid. Drinks and atmosphere were great though and staff were very helpful!

Food was terrible and extremely overpriced - would not eat here again! Ordered a “steak sandwich” at 27€ which came out as an English muffin containing a small thin bit of frying steak which was mainly grizzle and about 2 strands of onions, with half a bowl filled of chips. Other meals across our party included a tasteless bowl of chowder which was described as warm milk with 2 pieces of smoked haddock, and a chicken burger which was cold and came with half a bowl of chips again. The prices on the menu are a disgrace for the quality of the food. The service was fine but could not make up for the state of the food.
