We booked here due to easy access to the motorway we just wanted a place to stay and did not expect much. We were delighted with the room, it was clean, nicely decorated and well equipped. The young lady at the desk was extremely helpful and had an iron/board delivered to our room while we ate in the restaurant (fab food). They couldn’t do more to help and we had an excellent stay. I would highly recommend staying here and am only sorry we didn’t get to look around the local area as we were on route elsewhere. It was so much better than just a place to stay and would make a lovely stop over for those with more time, so much better than Travel Inn/ Premier Inn, Ramada etc
We booked a family quad room and indicated that there was an infant who needed a travel cot and the sofa bed would also be required. Upon check in around 18:00 neither the sofa bed nor travel cot were set up. I told the staff who said they'd be able to get to it within an hour and a half. This was acceptable because we were going to have dinner. Around 20:00 I went to check and it was still not set up. I again asked the staff to do this as I need to get my children to bed soon. Around 20:30 just before we were going to go to the room I thought I'd check just in case. Still it was not done. Only after the third attempt did the staff actually go and set up the room. Overall this delay did affect their bedtime schedule which is totally unacceptable considering we gave all the right details at booking and it is a FAMILY QUAD room. Also, only 2 sets of towels so in the morning I had to go and ask for more towels considering there were four of us in the quad room. The restaurant was also very slow in service at both dinner and breakfast. In short, I would avoid staying here again.
We had a starter of Camenbert with Ciabatta, which was good, Unfortunately, we ordered 2 x fish pie, and to be honest, I found 1 very small piece of salmon , 2 very small prawns, no white fish at all, the mash was sloppy, I ate a quarter of the pie as it was slop. The roast veg and greens were nice. My wife's fish pie was acceptable. The service was good. The waitress noticed I had left my meal & asked what the problem was. My reply was it would have been nice if there was some fish in the pie. She went into the kitchen, no apologises from them. The manager got involved and offered to cancel both the fish pies off the bill, which was fine, I didn't accept this. My wife's was ok, so we settled on 1 meal being refunded. Thank you, manager, but you should have come and talked to us, not left it to the server. Also, we sat outside for a drink and were very untidy with fag ends, plates on tables etc. Unfortunately, we will not be back to this establishment. It used to be a good place, now very tatty outside.
