Just returned from a wonderful weekend stay at The Belsfield. Yes, they are doing some improvements on the building, however, the improvements they are doing are beautiful. None of it caused any disruption or impacted our stay negatively. The room was perfectly clean, quiet, peaceful, spacious and comfortable, the complementary toiletries smelled beautiful. We had a gorgeous view of the lake from our room and the food, both at Breakfast and Dinner was of good quality, generous portions and delicious. All the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The bar area with relaxing music added perfectly to the atmosphere and experience. Teylor who was working behind the bar on his first shift, totally smashed it! Good luck to him, I’m sure he’ll continue to do an amazing job of putting a smile on customers faces. A gorgeous place to stay. Thank you to all at the Belsfield for making our stay an absolute pleasure. I wouldn’t change a thing! I’ll definitely stay there again next time I’m in the Lakes 😊
The view from The Belsfield Hotel is absolutely stunning – overlooking Lake Windermere, it’s truly one of the best features of the stay. The location is also excellent, just a short walk from the pier, bus station, and several good restaurants. The hotel’s garden is beautiful and well-maintained, offering a peaceful place to relax. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our visit. Also, it’s good to note that the elevators have been fixed and are working properly now. However, the hotel rooms are in need of renovation. The furniture feels old and dated, and the curtains need repairing. There was noticeable dust and even some spider webs, which shouldn’t be the case for a hotel of this standard. The ironing board was also dusty and clearly not cleaned properly. The air conditioning wasn’t working, though a fan was provided in the cabinet. It helped a little, but it’s not a proper substitute, especially in warmer weather. Overall, a beautiful location and lovely staff, but the room quality and cleanliness definitely need improvement.
We have just returned from a stay at The Belsfield. Lots of building work going on, scaffolding on view from almost every window in the public areas. The main lift in the hotel was out of order, not a problem for us, but it could be for someone with mobility issues as there's lots of stairs to climb to access some of the rooms. Rainwater was leaking into the reception area, towels on the floor around the pillars soaking up the water. Our room was large, quiet and comfortable but could have done with a paint refresh in areas. Evening meal was lovely, very good quality food. We ate in the garden restaurant/brasserie where there's a lovely feature window overlooking the lake. Unfortunately, the lake view was spoilt by the incredibly dirty feature window which was highlighted when the evening sun shone on the window. Breakfast is buffet style, food was nice but for a hotel of this standard we would have expected waiter service and a menu choice. The hotel doesn't accept cash. Overall - disappointing.
